Casing Design

 June 06, 2022

Casing design is a project that targets to create a table of casing types according to the given depth, mud weight, and some design factors. I completed this project for my Drilling Engineering II course taken by M. Verşan Kök. I used only in grades J-55 and N-80 for all weights of API casing. The given project is about writing a computer program to design a casing string using the worst possible loading assumptions. From the input field, we can take various inputs, these are:

- Depth, ft

- Mud Weight, ppg

- Formation Pressure Gradient, psi/ft

- Joint Strength

-Collapse

-Internal Yield

-Yield Strength

Besides, the project has 8000ft in-depth, 11.2 ppg, 0.48 psi/ft pressure gradient, and collapse, joint strength, internal yield, and yield strength are 1.075, 2.00, 1.00, and 1.15, respectively. I used the properties of 7 inches in size of casing are given below.

After the inputs and casing size is chosen, the program gives a table and finally it consists of the following information about casing design:

- Section

- Interval, ft

- Length, ft

- Casing Grade

- Weight, lb

-Couple Type
